"Can one lawyer represent both my spouse and me? I think it would save us both time and money."

It is not ethical for one lawyer to represent both parties in a divorce proceeding or preparation of a post-nuptial or prenuptial, because those parties have adverse interests. Lawyers have to represent their client's interests. When the lawyer is representing both spouses, then there are two clients that have competing or different interests.
